In the 1970's surfer's were on the edge of society. It was a small tribe in the scheme of things, localism was part of the gig but locals were open to real surfers who turned up to share waves. This was a world wide crew  with the same philosophy and dedicated to surfing, often without leg ropes, exploring new horizons, smoking dope, partying, fires on the beach, trips up the coast, down the coast, to Morocco, Baja, wherever. Girls on the beach and I say that in light of the fact there weren't many girls who surfed in the 70's. It was a unique time and those who lived it, loved it. And still do. And Tracks was Tracks and inspired a generation of surfers to find what was out there.
